Traditional German Christmas Market

November 10 - December 24, 2007

Open Thursday through Sunday
from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Christmas Markets in Germany are a feast for the senses and we, the Pioneer Lodge Team invite you to enjoy this magic feeling with us!

German Christmas Markets have a long tradition and the East German region of the Ore Mountains, the 'Erzgebirge', where we are coming from is known for its wooden Christmas arts and crafts.

We are delighted to offer you a broad variety of these handmade crafts at our Lodge. A world famous Nutcracker or a 'Schwibbogen' (= Ore Mountain candle holder), a cute Smokeman or a 'Pyramide' (= candlelit carousel) and many other crafts might make a very special Christmas gift for your beloved ones.

While you stroll around and enjoy the crafts, we serve you freshly baked German Christmas Stollen (German rich bread with dried fruit and nuts), a special Christmas cake which was first produced and distributed in the city of Dresden in Germany back in the year 1471. At that time nobody could have thought that the tradition of making 'Stollen' would ever turn out to be so popular.

But you may also try another German Christmas Market specialty: while it is getting uncomfortable outside, we will serve you a cup of warming 'Glühwein' (mulled wine).

This is really something special: standing quietly with a cup of warming 'Glühwein' in your hands and sense the Christmas market atmosphere. There is a kind of magic in the air and it seems that everybody is driven by the same special emotions.

Yes, you can feel that Christmas is drawing near.

We look forward to your visit
